Is 2021 the year you’re ready to start making changes to your health and fitness, but you’re not sure where to begin?
Creating fitness goals is a powerful way to help you achieve success. Goal setting will inspire you to take action and give you the motivation and direction you need to create sustainable, long-term lifestyle changes.
There are many types of fitness goals you can aspire to - maybe you want to lift heavier, increase cardio, tone up, or break through a workout plateau? Whatever you want to achieve, having clearly defined fitness goals will help to keep you on track and give you something to work towards. Plus, it’s a pretty amazing feeling when you finally smash that fitness goal!
So, are you ready?
Here’s how you can start setting achievable fitness goals in 2021:
Set SMART goals
- Make your goal specific - if you want to lose weight, how much weight do you want to lose?
- Make your goals measurable - set yourself a benchmark so you know when you’re close to achieving your goal, such as achieving a set number of reps for an exercise (e.g 15 pull-ups)
- Ensure your goals are achievable
- Your goal should be realistic and relevant to YOU
- Goals should be time-specific
Develop micro-goals
If you have a large goal, try breaking it down to micro-goals. This way you won’t put so much pressure on yourself. Small goals that are confidence-building goals will give you a sense of achievement once completed and motivate you to carry on.
Follow a training and nutrition plan
Training and nutrition go together like Bey & Jay. You need to adequately dive in to both to see results. If you’re unsure of which exercises to do, or what foods to eat alongside your training, then a tailored program from a professional will set you on the right track. Here at THE BOD, we’ve recently released brand new 6-week Training & Nutrition Programs containing everything you need to smash your goals at home or in the gym. With three levels available, depending on your fitness level, you’ll be packed with all the tools you need to take your bod to the next level in 2021.
Join a challenge
Joining a challenge is a great way to hold you accountable. And you’ll have support from other women partaking in the challenge who will motivate you to push through if you feel yourself slipping. A challenge is a great way to kickstart a new training regime and will provide you with the tools you need to sustain your fitness goals. THE BOD New Year, Best You 6-Week Challenge kicks off 18th January 2021 and will help you build healthy habits that you can maintain for life!
Play the long game
We’re all about sustainable goals here at THE BOD. If you plan for the long term, it’ll help you see your goal as a lifestyle change and something you’ll stick to, rather than a quick fix.
