Barbell Chin-Up

Target Area: Upper Body 

Equipment: Smith Machine

  1. Using a barbell or smith machine, set up a bar so that it’s at the appropriate height (the lower the bar, the more difficult the exercise).
  2. Grip the bar in a supinated position and slowly step your feet away from your body. Lean back until your arms are straight. 
  3. Pull your chest up towards the bar as high as you can.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the exercise and slowly lower yourself back down to the starting position. This is one repetition.

INTENSITY

Increase

Lower the height of the bar.

Decrease

Increase the height of the bar.
